Saturday 29th September Wolves 1 Sako 43 Sheffield Wednesday 0
Up to third with the fourth win on the bounce. Wednesday put some press on towards the end, but the outstanding Doyle again ran the show and made the match for the return of DJ, this time as the Owls manager.
Bakary Sako's 25-yard free-kick was enough to give Wolves victory over struggling Sheffield Wednesday. Kevin Doyle and Sako both went close from distance before high-flying Wolves took the lead just before half-time. Sako fired under the wall and into the bottom corner with his second attempt, having been booked for taking an initial wayward effort too early. Wednesday offered little in attack and their best effort saw Chris O'Grady head straight at Carl Ikeme. Play mediaThe Wolves keeper was a spectator for long periods of the game, especially in the second half. There were few chances of note after the break at the other end too, with Wolves happy to sit on their one-goal lead. Stale Solbakken's side ran out comfortable winners, clinching a fourth successive league win for the first time since November 2008 and also extending their unbeaten run at Molineux. Their third win of the season means they have already equalled the total number of victories they managed on home soil throughout the whole of last season in the Premier League.
Wednesday, in contrast, fell to a sixth straight defeat since seeing their 19-match unbeaten run come to an end.
Wolves manager Stale Solbakken: "We were by far the best team. They did not have one chance all game. We controlled the game for long, long periods and should have made more of the possession. It was a well-deserved victory."
Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones: "At the moment the players feel everything they do is going against them. We created good chances against a good team but when things aren't going well people tend to snatch at things. We just have to keep going and relax a bit more in front of goal."

Wolves revert to their strongest side after making changes against Chelsea.
Carl Ikeme, Christophe Berra, Roger Johnson, Tongo Doumbia, Karl Henry, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Kevin Doyle are all set to return. Owls midfielder Ross Barkley and defender Martin Taylor return from being cup-tied in midweek and Reda Johnson may return from a foot injury. Chris Lines (groin), Rhys McCabe (thigh) and Lewis Buxton (hamstring) are all out.
MATCH FACTS Head-to-head These clubs are competing in the same division together for the first time in four seasons. Wolves won their last home meeting with the Owls, 4-1 in August 2008, and went on to complete the double and notch a fourth successive victory.
Wednesday are chasing their first three points at Molineux since their 3-1 victory in the Championship in March 2006, when the Yorkshire club were fighting against relegation and were ultimately successful.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Sixth-placed Wolves return to league business after the midweek 6-0 mauling by Chelsea in the Capital One Cup, and are hoping to complete four successive league victories, for the first time since November 2008. A third Molineux victory would equal the number of home wins they accrued in the whole of last season, in the Premier League. Stale Solbakken's side have opened the scoring in all but one of this season's Championship outings, and are hoping to accomplish three straight clean wins in the league, not achieved since March 2009.
Sheffield Wednesday Dave Jones takes the Owls back to the club he managed between January 2001 and November 2004, when he took Wolves up to the top flight for the first time in 19 years. Since their 19-game unbeaten run (18 under Jones) came to an end at the beginning of the month, Wednesday have lost all five league and cup matches. The South Yorkshire side, fourth-bottom in the table, have the joint weakest defence in the Championship, with the basement occupiers Peterborough; both have conceded 16 goals in seven outings. Defender Martin Taylor is awaiting his 300th career league appearance

Chelsea 6 Cahill 4' Bertrand 8'Mata 17'Romeu 53' (pen)Torres 58'Moses 71' Wolves 0 FT 90 HT 3-0
Chelsea produced a ruthless display to thrash Wolves and progress to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup as skipper John Terry returned to action. Three goals in the first 16 minutes set the tone before Oriol Romeu, Fernando Torres and Victor Moses found the net. Gary Cahill opened the scoring with a header, before Ryan Bertrand and Juan Mata added two more before half-time. Romeu then scored a penalty, Torres netted a header and Moses added the sixth from substitute Oscar's cross. Having spent the morning at Wembley defending himself against an FA charge of misconduct , Terry captained the side and enjoyed some respite in front of his adoring fans. The Chelsea captain was a virtual spectator as he was treated to his side's biggest win for almost two years as Stamford Bridge serenaded him with chants of "there's only one England captain," some 48 hours after he announced his retirement from international football. Chelsea gave debuts to Cesar Azpilicueta and Lucas Piazon, while Wolves opted to rest 10 players and were behind after four minutes when Cahill stooped to head in Juan Mata's free kick at the far post. Chelsea on the march Chelsea have won the competition in 1965, 1998, 2005 and 2007. This was the 104th meeting between the sides. Chelsea have now won 40 times, Wolves 38 and there have been 26 draws. Wolves last won at Stamford Bridge in a Division One clash in March 1979. Chelsea's youngsters, who looked lively throughout, then combined for the second goal in the seventh minute. Romeu's shot was saved by Wolves goalkeeper Dorus De Vries but Piazon kept the ball alive and turned it back for an unmarked Bertrand to blast home. The third goal was an exhibition from the established stars in the team, Mata starting and finishing a flowing move, exchanging passes with both Ramires and Torres before finishing expertly. It was not all plain sailing for Chelsea, however. First David Davis saw his strike tipped over before Slawomir Peszko surged clear of Terry and Cahill and rounded Ross Turnbull before shooting into the side netting. Chelsea maintained their momentum after the interval when De Vries brought Moses down, allowing Romeu to score his first goal for the club from the penalty spot. Torres got in on the act when he powered home a 58th-minute header from Mata's corner before Oscar crossed for Moses to power home his first Chelsea goal on his full debut with 19 minutes remaining to complete a perfect night for Roberto di Matteo's side. Chelsea assistant manager Eddie Newton: "This was a very impressive win. What most impressed was that the boys stuck to task and did the things the right way. It is very easy to get casual when you go two or three up early on but the boys didn't and they continued through to the end. It was pleasing to be able to rotate the squad as much as we did and still field a very strong side. It is about having a squad capable of challenging on all four fronts. We are not worried about putting markers down for anybody, it is about taking care of business and doing the best that we can do." Wolves manager Stale Solbakken: "Obviously we had thought about this a lot before doing it [making 10 changes for the game]. There was a risk that something like this could happen but we were punished at the beginning of the game with a soft set piece goal. Then came another goal and obviously that made it hard for the young boys in the team. There is no one else to blame but me and it is a calculated risk that I would do again because we have had three games in six days and have got three games in seven coming up." TEAM NEWS
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is expected to make wholesale changes to the side that beat Stoke on Saturday. Cesar Azpilicueta, Victor Moses, Marko Marin and Lucas Piazon may all make their first starts for the club. Wolves boss Stale Solbakken will rotate his squad, with Bjorn Sigurdarson expected to start after scoring his first goal for the club on Saturday. Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey remains out until the end of October with a knee injury. MATCH PREVIEW
After reaching three League Cup finals in four years in the mid-2000s Chelsea's recent record in the League Cup has been surprisingly poor, having failed to make it to the quarter-final stage for the last four seasons following defeats to Burnley, Blackburn, Liverpool and Newcastle. “ Last time I was there with Copenhagen we drew 0-0 so maybe we can do that and win on penalties! ” Wolves boss Stale Solbakken The FA Cup and Champions League holders will be keen to rectify that record and begin with a tie against Wolves, which looks a much harder match now than it did when the draw was made at the end of August. After an iffy start to life back in the Championship under new boss Stale Solbakken, three wins in six days have suddenly propelled Wolves up to fifth in the table. Their new players have started to integrate nicely, and hopes will be high of a swift return to the top flight. However, recent visits to Chelsea have been far from fruitful and they shipped 14 goals in four Premier League visits there. Solbakken, though, managed Copenhagen when they drew 0-0 at Stamford Bridge in their Champions League last 16 second-leg encounter in March 2011. MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
This is the first time Chelsea and Wolves have met in the League Cup. But it is the 104th meeting overall between the two sides. Chelsea have won 39 times, Wolves 38 and there have been 26 draws. Wolves last won at Stamford Bridge in a Division One clash in March 1979. Chelsea
They have won the competition in 1965, 1998, 2005 and 2007. They were last knocked out of the League Cup by Championship opposition in the fourth round in November 2008, when Burnley held them to a 1-1 draw at the Bridge, and won on penalties. In the 23 years since regaining their top-flight status, Chelsea have been knocked out of the League Cup by lower league opposition on eight occasions. Wolves
Wanderers have won the League Cup twice in 1974 and 1980. They have not knocked out a top-flight club since beating Coventry, in the fourth round in November 1995. Wolves have exited the competition to Manchester United (twice) and Manchester City in the last three seasons.
Saturday 22nd September Peterborough 0 Wolves 2 #9SEB (33 pen), Sigurdarson (82)
The Beeb reported Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Bjorn Sigurdarson scored to give Wolves their third straight Championship win and keep Peterborough pointless. Posh could have been in front early on but Lee Tomlin could only shoot wide. They were made to pay on 33 minutes though, when Wolves striker Ebanks-Blake scored from the spot after being upended in the area by Grant McCann. Sigurdarson secured the win late on when he lifted the ball over Peterborough goalkeeper Robert Olejnik. The defeat leaves Darren Ferguson's Peterborough rooted to the bottom of the table, having conceded 16 goals in their seven Championship games.
It could have been different had either Tomlin converted his early chance or McCann beaten Carl Ikeme from long range. McCann then lost the ball in midfield and, in a poor attempt to win it back, brought down Ebanks-Blake who blasted the resulting spot-kick straight down the middle. Kevin Doyle twice went close to doubling Wolves' lead before the break before Ebanks-Blake was denied by Olejnik at the start of the second period. Peterborough substitute George Boyd put a long-range effort wide as the home side struggled to create chances. Their miserable afternoon was sealed eight minutes from time when Sigurdarson, released by Doyle's fine through-ball, calmly flicked the ball over Olejnik. Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson: "I was embarrassed by what I saw. We gave away two more dreadful goals and that has been the story of our season. "Everyone knows the situation we are in and it is up to us to do something about it. I've had enough time to look at things and now need to make some big decisions. The easiest thing for me would be to walk away, but I've never walked away from anything. I've not got that in me." Wolves manager Stale Solbakken: "We had the chances to finish the game before we did and it was good to see Bjorn come on and get that second goal. "Every day the squad is getting better. The players that were here are mixing with the new ones who have come in and everyone is learning together. Of course we still have a lot of things to work on but for now we can have a happy bus trip home." Winless run: Peterborough's last league win came back in March when they beat Leicester City 1-0 at London Road.

Peterborough have a full squad to choose from, with Grant McCann back from a calf injury and midfielder Danny Swanson cleared
after a thigh problem. Tommy Rowe is the sole match fitness doubt following a long lay-off with a fractured collarbone. Wolves boss Stale Solbakken may continue his rotation policy with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Tongo Doumbia and Slawomir Peszko all in
line to return. Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey (knee) remains out until the end of October. MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head • Peterborough have only picked up one point out of a last possible 12 against Wolves, and have won one in seven. • The Black Country club have never lost at London Road. • This is only the 11th competitive meeting, since they first went toe-to-toe in January 1987. Peterborough United • Posh are the most consistent club in the second tier after six defeats out of six. It is already their worst start to a league campaign and another loss will take them to within one of their club record of eight successive league losses. They have opened the scoring in only one of their six league outings (in the 2-1 home loss to Millwall). • Manager Darren Ferguson would dearly love his side to break their duck against a club for whom he made 149 appearances and scored 10 goals between 1994 and 1999. Wolverhampton Wanderers Three points would give Wolves three straight league victories for the first time since April 2009, when they were on their way to promotion and a three-season stay in the Premier League. Back-to-back away victories, after the midweek trip to Ipswich, would also equal the total of two wins they mustered in the whole of last season's ill-fated Premier League campaign. Kevin Doyle is poised to make his 100th league appearance in Wolves colours.
Wednesday 19th September Ipswich Town 0 Wolves 2 (Smith og 69 Soumbia 77) ko 7:45pm
The Beeb said Stale Solbakken got his first away win as Wolves manager with a victory at struggling Ipswich. Tommy Smith scored an own goal when he turned in Bakary Sako's free-kick from the edge of the six-yard box. Mali international Tongo Doumbia added a second for Wolves with a fierce drive from outside the area that gave goalkeeper Scott Loach no chance.
Kevin Doyle also went close for Wolves with two powerful strikes as Ipswich remained in the relegation zone. Paul Jewell's team are second from bottom of the Championship with the worst goalscoring record in the division. After a low-key first half, the home side did produce a promising spell but Lee Martin and Paul Taylor were both thwarted by Wolves centre-back Roger Johnson. Tractor Boys striker Daryl Murphy also went close when he fired a shot wide from the centre of the penalty area after getting on the end of an Aaron Creswell free-kick. But the home side did themselves no favours with the own goal on 66 minutes and Doumbia's second for Wolves, 11 minutes later, only served to increase the pressure on Jewell. Ipswich manager Paul Jewell: "We're not just missing half-chances - they're gilt-edged opportunities. We were the better side but we were wasteful, just as we had been on Saturday [a 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough]. If we'd got the first goal, the confidence would have flowed. Instead, we're edgy and there's no easy way out of the situation we're in. That's life and that's football, but as manager I take full responsibility." Wolves boss Stale Solbakken: "We were pleased to win our first away match of the season. It was hard work and could have gone either way. In the first half both teams were very organised. There were few chances and it was hard for both sides to open each other up. In the second half there were a lot more chances, though. The Ipswich defender [Smith] was very unlucky [with the own goal] but we haven't had much luck so far so maybe it was our turn."

TEAM NEWS
Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell may give French midfielder Cheick Kourouma his full debut against Wolves. Captain Carlos Edwards, who came through unscathed on his return from a groin injury, will retain his place. Wolves manager Stale Solbakken should have a full-strength squad to choose from ahead of the trip to Portman Road. Returning trio Bjorn Sigurdarson, Razak Boukari and Kevin Foley are fit again, and Sylvain Ebanks-Blake appears to have recovered from a tight hamstring. The Wolves top scorer complained of the injury after Sunday's 2-1 home win over Leicester City, in which he scored his third goal of the season, but he has travelled to Suffolk. MATCH FACTS

Sunday 16th September Wolves 2 (Ebanks-Blake, Stearman) v Leicester City 1 (Konchesky) live on Sky
Npower Championship Venue: Molineux Sunday 16 SeptemberKick-off: 13:15 BST
Wolves survived relentless late Leicester City pressure to earn a win that takes them out of the relegation zone and leaves City still searching for their first away point this season. The hosts led an open game at the break after some sloppy defending allowed Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to head home and Richard Stearman to sweep in a second. Paul Konchesky smashed in a wonderful 30-yard strike to give the Foxes hope. Martyn Waghorn hit the post with a late strike but the hosts held on. Leicester piled forward for large periods of the second half. But thanks to a combination of some wayward finishing and desperate defensive work, Wolves were able to secure just their second league success at Molineux in 2012 and move above their opponents and up to tenth place in the Championship table. The game was refreshingly open from the outset but, as good as much of the attacking was, some woeful defending also played a significant part in the thrilling fare on offer. Both sides were guilty of giving the ball away cheaply and the chances flowed - particularly before the interval. Leicester midfielder Andy King, who later limped off with a hamstring injury, went close with a decent strike that was deflected over after an incisive move. David Nugent fired a fierce shot narrowly over the bar and should have done better when strike partner Jamie Vardy was free in the middle as Wolves appealed for offside. Ben Marshall's fine curling strike also forced home keeper Carl Ikeme into a brilliant one-handed stop. But Wolves were equally dangerous up front. Kevin Doyle's know-how, experience and clever running off the ball proved a constant menace and a fine platform from which to play, and the excellent Bakary Sako provided a threat out wide. Doyle had one decent attempt blocked and also produced a sensational curling effort that required a world-class save from Kasper Schmeichel.
Despite the steady flow of chances, both first-half goals came from no-frills set-pieces and the dreadful defending will have left Foxes manager Nigel Pearson traumatised. Ebanks-Blake crashed the first goal past Schmeichel from six yards from a simple, but perfectly delivered Sako free-kick. And Stearman doubled the lead when Ritchie De Laet was caught ball-watching from a corner and the big defender met Doyle's flick-on to send a beautifully controlled volley in off the underside of the bar. The defending improved after the break but the opportunities continued, Wolves going close through Ebanks-Blake and Sako. But the visitors - boosted by the second-half introduction of Anthony Knockaert for the ineffective Lloyd Dyer - gradually got on top and started to dominate possession and chances. Wolves had Karl Henry back in central midfield but he and his team-mates struggled to deal with the quality and movement of the young Leicester quartet. A curling Marshall cross nearly beat Ikeme, who knew little about the save he made with his feet, and the pressure began to build. Konchesky then crashed in the most spectacular of efforts, finding the roof of the net from 30 yards with a shot that beat Ikeme for pure pace. A second City goal seemed inevitable. But Nugent's header drifted narrowly wide from a floated De Laet cross and Waghorn wasted their best chance when his low strike came back off the inside of the post, ensuring a third away league defeat this season.
Wolves manager Stale Solbakken:
"You could see that it was a team that is not used to winning. All the good organisation and spells that we had in the first half we lost in the second half. But they fought well, they blocked shots and were brave in our area and we are relieved we got three points. The first half was something to build on. In a way it was the first game for the new Wolves with the new players coming in from the beginning and during the game. The good thing was that the team did not panic. In the last 15 minutes although it was not wonderful to watch for a coach, it was good defending of the penalty area. The only way to get confidence is to win games but we still need to be braver and to make sure we are not afraid of playing." Molineux misery Wolves are unbeaten at home this season, but the victory over Leicester is only their second league win at Molineux in this calendar year.
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson:
"I am annoyed in the fashion that we conceded goals from two set-plays. It was sloppy and when we had the ball we didn't work hard enough. It really is a case of us making similar mistakes and at some point we have to start taking our chances. But the players are working hard and I believe our fortunes will change. We have got to start getting the performances to a point where we are more difficult to beat because we have the armoury to hurt sides. We played some good football but you don't want to play good losing football. It is about winning. There is not an awful lot wrong but we have to start producing winning situations more often and we will do as we have the nucleus of a very good side. We have to take responsibility for how we perform and then everything else will fall into place."

Noone and Whittingham torment Wolves after Sako scores on his League debut. Woeful defence & midfield protection; again - 6 years of consistently poor defending.
from the Beeb
Peter Whittingham's hat-trick helped Cardiff City come back from a goal down to defeat Wolves. Bakary Sako marked his Championship debut with a cracking low free-kick to put the visitors ahead. Cardiff responded a minute later when Whittingham converted a penalty won by debutant Craig Noone. Three minutes later, Whittingham finished a swift counter attack from the edge of the Wolves area, before his second-half free-kick sealed things. The midfielder's third - his second career hat-trick for Cardiff - was the pick of the goals, as he found the top corner by lifting the ball over the wall. New singing Noone, who joined from Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday, was a constant menace with his pace and trickery. Such was his impact on the left wing, Cardiff hardly felt the absence of Craig Bellamy through injury.ut it was another new face to strike first in a pulsating opening as Sako drilled a low free-kick past goalkeeper David Marshall on 10 minutes. Noone's first telling contribution followed almost immediately when he tempted Ronald Zubar into a rash challenge inside his own area, with Whittingham dispatching the penalty down the middle. Cardiff then turned defence into attack to take the lead. Another Cardiff debutant, Nicky Maynard, was involved before Whittingham fired low into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Wolves, who have recorded just two wins in their last 28 league games, enjoyed some midfield dominance after the break. But they failed to engineer clear openings and Whittingham's glorious third after another foul on Noone sealed the points. Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay: "We've signed 10 players - a bit like last season - and it takes time to integrate people. We realise that, but looking at them today they are beginning to get there. I was so happy with them; the way they applied themselves - they are beginning to slip into the work-rate I expect at this football club. But we're bringing in good footballers as well so it's upping the levels and I'm delighted with the performance." Wolves manager Stale Solbakken: "We talked long and hard about not conceding stupid free-kicks or penalties and we made stupid errors at important times in the game. We were 1-0 up and we didn't give ourselves the chance to hold onto our lead. I'm very disappointed at our stupid mistakes which cost us goals. Everyone can beat everyone in this division but we've lost quality players in the transfer window. Our new players will take time to bed into the side."
