Saturday 27th October Wolves 1 Sako 12′  Charlton Athletic 1 Wilson 58′ (3pm)

Wolves 1 Sako 12′ Charlton 1 Wilson 58′
Yet another very poor home performance with a very poor Addicks showing us up - 55% possession they had - and could easily have won it.   No real drive or invention.  No real wing play - and a decade long fault of slowing the game down until the opposition could take control and simply awful ball control from some players like Sigurdarson.   Whatever CHris Powell said at half time must have been along the lines of "Wolves fade at home in the second half - just get at them" whereas the WW players must have been told to drop back and concede possession.   The Addicks goal had a touch of luck after a great save by Carl Ikeme that the ball bounced back to Wilson.  Only one booking showed the lack of fire in a match where our backpasses easily outnumbered any forward movement.  Where we had forward movement half the time the ball went to the opposition.    So we slip, unprotestingly, out of the play off places after one win in five.

Wolves paid the price for another lacklustre second-half performance as Championship rivals Charlton fought back to claim a point at Molineux.
Impressive Frenchman Bakary Sako fired Wolves into a fully deserved half-time lead with his fifth goal of the season.
But Lawrie Wilson pounced after the break to earn a point for Charlton.
The home side surrendered a half-time lead against Bolton on Tuesday and another flat second-half display was capitalised on by the improved

Addicks.  Wilson's leveller, his first for the club since a summer move from Stevenage, came just minutes after Wolves striker Kevin Doyle saw a goal

ruled out for offside. On-loan Queens Park Rangers striker Rob Hulse hit the post before Wilson slotted in the rebound for Charlton's equaliser.
Hulse had two chances to earn all three points for Charlton when he forced a parried save from Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme before planting wide a

header in the final minute. It leaves seventh-placed Wolves, who could have moved into the play-off spots with victory, with one win from their last

five league matches.
Last year's League One champions Charlton are only two points clear of the drop-zone after just one victory in their previous six games.

TEAM NEWS

Wolves boss Stale Solbakken has no new injury concerns but could freshen things up after the 2-2 home midweek draw with Bolton Wanderers. They remain without a host of players, having lost summer signings Slawomir Peszko and Razak Boukari on top of the loss of fellow wide man Stephen Hunt.
Charlton could welcome Matt Taylor back after recovering from a foot injury that has kept him out since August.
Winger Dale Stephens looks like he will miss out with a tight hamstring.

-Tuesday  23rd October Wolves 2 Doyle 27′, 30  Bolton 2   Afobe 21′M Davies 90′ (7:45pm)

Deja vu - Last seasons diver scores again as Johnson heads the ball to him to score.

Former Wolves midfielder Mark Davies netted a last-minute equaliser against his old club to earn a draw for Championship strugglers Bolton.
Davies was booed throughout by the home fans and responded by preventing Wolves climbing up to third with a win.
Bolton, who are shortly expected to name Dougie Freedman as their new manager, led through Benik Afobe's opener.
But Wolves striker Kevin Doyle swung the match in the home side's favour before half-time with a quick brace.
Freedman's move to Bolton is likely to be confirmed later this week after Crystal Palace announced he had left Selhurst Park and agreed a move to the Reebok Stadium.
And he will have watched with delight as Davies superbly volleyed in a deserved leveller from 12 yards.
Bolton started brightly and deserved their early lead through Afobe, who was allowed time and space to poke in following a Martin Petrov corner.
But they were stunned by two goals from Republic of Ireland striker Doyle in the space of 90 seconds.
Bolton managed to clear after Roger Johnson's thumping header hit the bar but Bakary Sako fed Doyle who coolly slid in the equaliser.
And as the home fans continued to celebrate, Doyle nodded into an unguarded net when Adam Bogdan could only parry Sako's free-kick.
After half-time, Bolton upped the tempo and Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme produced a string of magnificent saves. But he was left helpless as Davies plucked the ball out of the air before steadying himself to fire home.
Wolves boss Stale Solbakken: "I think 2-2 was probably the right result. When you count possession and chances, we were by far the best team in the first half.
"We deserved the lead at half-time but after the interval we lost the ball a lot. When we should have gone forwards we passed backwards and when we should have gone back we passed it to no-one. We never really got into it in the second half.
"I think it was one of the best games I have seen in the Championship for quality this season."
Bolton caretaker boss Jimmy Phillips: "The players have really responded to our training and the framework we have put in place has given them the confidence to get something if they go go behind.
"That has been evident against Wolves and I was very pleased for the players.
"It was unsettling for them with the news that came out [of the approach for Dougie Freedman] and myself, Sammy Lee and Julian Darby, all being professional people, decided we would get the best out of the players and they responded very well to the challenge.
"As far we are aware the future is there are still negotiations to be concluded between Bolton and Crystal Palace. Myself, Sammy and Julian will be preparing the team and then taking the team at Middlesbrough. Obviously things could change."

-Saturday  20th  October Huddersfield v  Wolves   (3pm)

350 up for Foles, but we were 2-0 down before we started playing.

James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford scored as Huddersfield defeated Wolves to move up to third in the Championship. Vaughan put the home side ahead in the 10th minute, heading home at the back post. Beckford made it 2-0 when he struck a stunning volley from Adam Clayton's cross beyond goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

Huddersfield's lethal loans
Jermaine Beckford, on loan from Leicester, has scored two goals in three games for Huddersfield. On-loan Norwich striker James Vaughan has three in seven

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's close-range finish in the 63rd minute set up a tense finish, but Huddersfield held on.   Wolves arrived at the John Smith's Stadium having won their last three games away from home.  Huddersfield, meanwhile, had lost their last two on home soil.   But from the outset the home side's on-loan duo of Vaughan and Beckford caused Wolves all sorts of problems and it was the former who opened the scoring.  Jack Hunt raced down the right before floating a cross towards the back post where Vaughan was waiting, and the Norwich man nodded home.  There was little the visitors could have done about Huddersfield's second just before the half hour mark as Beckford smashed a volley beyond Ikeme from 12 yards for his second goal in as many games.  Huddersfield had plenty of chances to go further ahead after that, but instead it was Wolves who pulled one back in the 63rd minute.   Bakary Sako crossed from the left and Ebanks-Blake poked beyond Alex Smithies at the near post.  Wolves dominated after that as they sensed the possibility of an equaliser, but Huddersfield held on to secure the three points.  Huddersfield manager Simon Grayson: "James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford can be whatever they want to be. Both have something to prove, both to themselves and other people.  Without wanting to jinx it, as a pair, they have plenty of credentials to suggest they could be one of the best in the league. Playing like that they will be a handful for teams in any league."

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken: "Huddersfield scored two very good goals and they really punished us with some class finishing. You have to praise the opposition sometimes.  I can also find faults with my own players but sometimes you have to compliment the opposition.  We gave ourselves a long way to come back after going 2-0 down but we did much better in the second half.   It may be that we slipped below our normal standards but Huddersfield were very good."

TEAM NEWS

Huddersfield are without defender Joel Lynch because of a shin injury and Oscar Gobern is out for a further three months after ankle surgery.  Midfielder Oliver Norwood is back from international duty and should play.
Wolves captain Karl Henry is suspended, but Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle may return from a thigh injury. On-loan Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant is expected to make his debut, having been signed following the injuries to Slawomir Peszko and Razak Boukari.

VIEW FROM THE TRAINING GROUND

New Wolves loan signing Jermaine Pennant told BBC WM: "There's only a certain amount of training you can do before you start missing the match days, the build-up, the crowd, the atmosphere, the butterflies.  No matter what level you're at, you still get that feeling.  There was interest from elsewhere. But it's better to join a club with good momentum and morale than a club who are might be fighting and struggling.  And there was good feedback about Wolves. They play good football and the manager likes playing with wingers."
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
• This is the 75th competitive match between these clubs and the first in 11 years; each have won 30 of the previous 74.
• Huddersfield are chasing a fifth straight league win over Wolves, having dropped only four points in the last 24 available against them.
• The Black Country club have won only one of their last 13 against the Terriers, having registered a 2-0 away victory in February 1997, when Steve Froggatt and Steve Bull were on target.
Huddersfield Town
• The promoted Terriers are pursuing a sixth win in nine Championship outings.
• They have fared better on their travels than at home, with just seven of their 17 points picked up in front of their own supporters. Simon

Grayson's side hold the best first-half record in the Championship, having turned round in front in seven of their 10 games. Of those five were

eventually won, one drawn and one lost.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
• Wolves go into this game holding the joint longest winning streak away from home in the Championship, three matches, in which clean sheets have been kept in all three.• They have won all four league games in which they have scored two or more goals, and have opened the scoring in all but one of their 10 league
outings.
• If picked, Kevin Foley will be playing in a club game for the 350th time in his career.

-Saturday 6th October Blackburn Rovers 0 Wolves 1 (Sako 78)  600th Away League Win

Wolves' 600th Away League win

Bakary Sako's second-half strike gave Wolves a deserved victory over Blackburn at Ewood Park.
The midfielder struck with 12 minutes remaining when he found the net from 25 yards after a good first touch.
Rovers almost got a point but Colin Kazim-Richards headed off target from close range from Fabio Nunes' cross.
The defeat for Blackburn hindered interim boss Eric Black's chances of getting the job permanently as he has not won a game in his three in charge.
Steve Kean effect:Blackburn's previous highest attendance this season was 13,935 against Leicester on 25 August A crowd of 17,034 turned out at Ewood Park, the highest of the season, for Blackburn's first game at home since Steve Kean's departure.
But it was the visitors who started the brightest, Sako forcing Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson into an early save with a fierce strike.
Rovers' claims for a penalty when Jordan Rhodes went down under a challenge from Richard Stearman were waved away by referee Nigel Miller before Sylvan Ebanks-Blake hit the post for Stale Solbakken's side.
Rhodes had the hosts' best chance of the opening half when he forced Carl Ikeme into a reaction save, before Anthony Forde curled wide after the break for Wolves.
Then with 12 minutes remaining, the ball came out to Sako from a corner. His first touch took him into space before he beat Robinson with a fine effort.
Kazim-Richards should have done better moments later when Nunes' ball caused confusion between Ikeme and Wolves centre-back Christophe Berra but he squandered the chance.
Blackburn are now without a win in four games, while Wolves move to third.
Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager
Eric Black:
"That's two weeks in a row. I'm not saying we'd have gone on to win the game but they're crucial decisions and they're so blatant. That's two ridiculous claims we have had. How they can decide Jordan has fallen by his own means is beyond me. Their boy falls over as well so contact must have been made."
"I'm not deluding myself; I don't think we did enough to win the game but we certainly did enough not to lose it."
Wolves manager
Stale Solbakken:
"I think we were rock solid today taking into consideration how this week has been for us, taking into account injuries for Slawomir Peszko, Razak Boukari, and Kevin Doyle - who was injured in training yesterday. "What I'm proud of is the players who played not in the most familiar roles played very well. I think the confidence in the team in the first half was very good. Some of the youngsters also got game time today."

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

• This is the 99th league and cup meeting. Blackburn have won 40 and lost 37 of the last 98.   Wolves won last season's visit to Ewood Park 2-1 in the first match of what turned out to be a relegation season for both clubs from the Premier League.   That reverse ended a run of four consecutive home league wins over the Black Country club, in which Blackburn scored a total of 12 goals.

Blackburn Rovers
• Rovers have drawn their last two, and remain the only club to have been beaten just once in the Championship.  They have scored half of their league goals in the last 15 minutes; an unrivalled eight of 16.  Paul Robinson is set to make his 150th league appearance in a Blackburn goalkeepers' jersey.

Wolverhampton Wanderers
• A 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace midweek, ended Wolves' four-match winning streak in the Championship
.  Stale Solbakken's club have scored first in all but one of the nine league games.  They are chasing a 600th away win in their league history

-Tuesday 2nd October Wolves  1 Ebanks-Blake 53′  Palace 2 Zaha 67′, 73

HT 0-0
Wilfried Zaha scored two superb goals as in-form Crystal Palace battled back to beat Wolves at Molineux and climb into the Championship's top six. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake gave the home side the lead early in the second half, pouncing on Damien Delaney's mistake before scoring. But Zaha scored his first of the season in the 67th minute after a mazy run.
The England Under-21 winger then sealed Palace's fifth win in six matches with an unstoppable strike on the turn.  Palace condemned Wolves to their first home defeat of the season despite the absence of influential midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi.  And Wolves were dealt an added blow as Polish wide man Slawomir Peszko stretched knee ligaments and is likely to be out for four to six weeks.  Palace keeper Julian Speroni made a superb save to keep out an Ebanks-Blake header in the 31st minute, then parried behind Bakary Sako's cross-shot from the left.  Joel Ward came to Palace's rescue in the 39th minute when his superb sliding tackle denied Kevin Doyle a clear shot at goal.  There was controversy shortly before half-time when Palace were denied what appeared to be a blatant penalty as Sako made a clumsy challenge on Zaha.  And the decision looked as if it would prove crucial eight minutes after the restart when Delaney dawdled on the edge of the area, and Ebanks-Blake drilled a low shot past Speroni.  Doyle almost made it 2-0 soon after when his shot crashed back off the crossbar after Sako's initial effort had been saved.  Yet Palace drew level courtesy of Zaha's mazy run in the area and angled finish.  And the wide man - linked with a couple of leading Premier League clubs over the summer - completed the Eagles's comeback just six minutes later when he turned Stephen Ward on the edge of the area and fired home.
Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman on Wilfried Zaha's future:  "It's a little bit different at this club because, under my leadership, I've known that kid since 14 years of age. It's a relationship which goes a little bit further than contracts.  When he's ready and when I think he's ready to let him go to the right club, I will tap Wilfried on the shoulder and tell him I can't help him any longer.  It's a little bit different with my kids, the relationship has been there a long time."
Wolves manager Stale Solbakken on Slawomir Peszko's injury:  "The only thing that maybe worries me is another bad injury to one of the wide players. That makes us a little bit vulnerable in the wide areas. The injury is a bad one."
